WOMEN'S DIVISION

The Women's Division of T'AI-KARA-TE-DO™ was created in order to allow women the ability to train in the art of T'AI-KARA-TE-DO™ without feeling left out or abused by the male figures in the school. This division focuses not only on the katas (forms) and the proper use of all techniques, but we also train a practical style of self defense that women can use in any situation. Many women who study in other schools feel that they must fight against the men in order to achieve any rank level. With the separate division they can learn according to their own ability but not having to fight the men for ranking. One bonus to having a women's division is that they are not required to compete in terms of technique with the men. Typically the men put the “martial” into martial arts, and that being said the women put the “arts” into it. It is a natural known fact that men have more strength and power then women. Because of this to expect women to do everything that men do is wrong. Women are more graceful and agile then men and have a greater appreciation for the beauty rather then the kill of the art form. This is where the separate division comes into play. While the men are studying the art in terms of strength and power in their katas, the women are learning it in terms of beauty and grace. There are 18 katas to learn for black belt in the women's division compared to the 21 katas required to learn in the men's division. Based on this though, there is a higher level of proficiency expected from the women compared to the men. Upon reaching black belt they can begin studying T'AI-GONG-KOI™. Another bonus to the women's division is that they have the availability of men in their classes in order to allow their self defense moves to be practiced in a more realistic type of setting. With a woman helping to create as well as run this division, it guarantees that women of all shapes, sizes, and abilities should be able to set and accomplish the goal of learning the art of T'AI-KARA-TE-DO™.
